The Peoria Chiefs will play a regular season game in the friendly confines of Wrigley Field this summer. The Class A Chiefs and their parent club the Chicago Cubs made a joint announcement Thursday. The Chiefs will play suburban Kane County Tuesday July 29th at 7:05 pm at Wrigley Field. This is the first time in the Chief's 26 year franchise history they will play in the historic ballpark. Cubs officials believe it will be the first minor league game to be played at Wrigley Field in it's 94 year existence. The game will include the chance for fans in Chicago to see Chief's manager and Hall-of-Famer Ryne Sandberg back in the ballpark. Sandberg's playing number was retired by the Cubs in 2005. Tickets for the game will be available beginning Friday morning at 9:00 am on www.cubs.com. |
