A tour of Peoria City Hall took place Friday morning to show people what renovations the building will go through over the next few years. The Rediscovering City Hall Committee plans to restore the architectural beauty of the building the way it was when it opened in the late 1800's. Jim Bateman is a former Peoria City Councilman who serves on the committee.The Peoria City Council has put up $800,000 in this year's budget and plans to again next year. Insurance will cover another $800,000. The total cost is expected to be about four-million dollars. The Rediscovering City Hall Committee is asking for private donations to cover the rest. It has been 31 years since the last renovation. The project is expected to take four or five years to complete.
