The Peoria County Board voted Thursday night to send back to committee, a resolution to raise the salaries of 4 offices up for election this fall. By law, the County Board is required to set new salary for these offices by the end of May. The proposed salary increases this year include the Coroner, Circuit Clerk, Auditor and Recorder of Deeds. A one-time parity adjustment would bring these offices up to the salary level of the Treasurer and County Clerk. The proposed parity increase would be a little over 6-thousand dollars annually which is a 12 and a half percent raise. That would put all 6 offices at the same salary level of $85,361 dollars effective December 1st. Management Services Committee Chair Jim Thomas wanted to see the original resolution voted on, but the board voted 14-2 to send the proposal back to committee. Thomas and Junior Watkins were the opposing votes. The committee will likely meet next Friday to review the proposed increases. The full board has set a special meeting for May 21st to vote on any revised proposal. |
