Two people were injured following a head-on collision on Route 116 just east of Route 24. Trooper Tony Halsey with the Illinois State Police says 21 year old Cody Linder of Elmwood and 56 year old Mark Neptun of East Peoria were both transported to an area hospital for injuries sustained in the crash.

Trooper Halsey says the accident occurred about 11:20 Thursday morning when Linder was eastbound on 116 at Access Road 8 and for an unknown reason jumped out of his moving vehicle. Linder's vehicle then collided head on with a westbound truck driven by Neptun.

Tickets may be issued pending further investigation. The accident did knock out the traffic light at 116 and the access road. Halsey said it could be out for the rest of the day.
