New city logo costs unclear so far


It may soon be time to say goodbye to current Indian head logo for the City of Peoria. The city council has approved Converse Marketing to work to design a new logo. Interim City Manager Henry Holling says the firm will work until the council and community members are happy with the results.

$30,000 was put into the 2008 budget for the logo upgrade. Holling says more money will need to be allotted for implementation next year. He says it's premature to give an estimate because the costs almost always are higher than expected.

Councilman Patrick Nichting says the costs could be kept down by only getting things like envelopes when the old ones run out.

Holling said the current logo has been in use since 1975. He said it cost $30,000 for the Indian Head logo then.
