Pleasant Valley latchkey parent upset

A mother is angry after her Pleasant Valley School latchkey child showed up on her doorstep two hours too soon. Linda and Penn Tanni's six-year-old daughter goes to an afterschool program until she is picked up at 6:00 in the evening. But Linda Tanni returned home early from nursing school last Friday to cook for her family. She answered a knock at the door around 3:30 and saw her six-year-old daughter standing on the porch. Tanni tells WEEK News 25 she asked her crying daughter why she was home. Tanni says her daughter explained she told her teacher she was not supposed to get on the bus but the teacher told her to get on the bus anyway. Last year the same thing happened. Tanni's daughter had to sit on the porch for almost two hours until her parents got home. Pleasant Valley Elementary Superintendent Allen Johnson tells News 25 the school is now dismissing latchey students five minute early, so the school can compare notes with Rogy's to find out who's present and who's sick. Pleasant Valley's Latchkey program is run by Rogy's Childcare Center.
